7/21/08 - “mile music festival” a haiku by nathan meese

July 21st, 2008

“on hot lawns of grass
we cooked and burned sizzled
rock and roll lived on”

what a weekend. we were so pleased to be able to play the first ever mile high music festival… especially being the first band to open up the main stage. we were lucky enough to play infront of thousands of beautiful people so early on saturday that we could check out all of the other great bands. Andrew Bird was amazing, OAR puts on a great show and, of course, tom petty killed it as i imagine he always does. what an experience.

thanks to those of you who were able to make it out. to those that weren’t able to come, fear not, we’re currently planning our next assault on the rocky mountan region and can’t wait to keep you up too late and make your ear rings with sweet sweet sweet.

7/15/08 - you vs. me vs. everything

July 15th, 2008

hi. its been a week, thought i’d check in and see how everyone was doing.
soooo, how are you? good, good. how are we? we’re great! we’re having our first rehearsals in what seems like forever getting ready for the mile high music festival. we’re trying to cope with this unbearably hot and sweaty month the french call ‘juliette’ (i think) by bbq-ing, seeing friends & family, bike riding, golf ball hitting, ping pong battling, and lawn mowing/watering (ben).

we’re beginning to get mixes back of the songs and i as usual, i can’t say enough good things about them. things are starting to mold, the paint is starting to dry and a beautiful landscape of rock n roll is beginning to take shape in front of our very ears. can’t wait for you to hear it.

alright, off to see FEIST! woooo!

7/7/08 - a match and some kerosene

July 7th, 2008

HOME!
DONE!
WOO!
hey everyone! let it be known that on july 2nd in the year 2008, the band MEESE finished tracking for their first major label album (this is the part where you start clapping) … thank you thank you! thats right people - the miles of this endless, winding, country road of an album are beginning to dwindle and a finished record is in sight. after driving back and forth between LA 6 times, eating pounds and pounds of orange chicken, and being able to officially call ourselves ‘recording artists’ we can finally conisder ourselves out of the rubble. its attainable. its undeniable. its so tasty. now we’re back home in denver, exercising off the pounds of hot dogs and potato chips we all ingested this past weekend whist watching fire works and laughing with friends. orange chicken, hot dogs, potato chips. i’m hungry.

for you colorado-ians, we got our set time / stage locale for the mile high music festival and i’ll be honest: its pretty dope. we are the first band on the main stage of the whole festival! we play on saturday july 19th at 12:30 (thats noon-thirty) on the San Disk MAIN STAGE so be sure to get there early enough to get meesed. plus tom petty’s playing on that same stage later on that night so, holy crap. go here for the skinny: www.milehighmusicfestival.com

as usual, we’re working hard here behind the scenes in the hopes to give you all the meese your ears can handle. can’t wait for you guys to hear the new stuff. talk to you soon..

6/28/2008 - headphones that hurt your head…

June 28th, 2008

Hello. We’re back in California this week, going over rough mixes, smoothing out the edges, creating new edges, smoothing those out and putting the frosting on this cake we call an album. But overall, I would say we have exceeded expectations in a lot of ways. The new version of “The Start of It” is banging. Straight banging. And the new songs are beginning to feel like old favorites. For our fans in CO, we hope to see you at the Mile Hi Music Festival. 65,000 tickets sold already. We are opening up the main stage on Saturday, it’s going to be a blast. For those of you who can’t make it, you can watch online through AT&T Blueroom. Details on the way. -patrick

5/26/2008 - patrick meese and the kingdom of the crystal skull

May 26th, 2008

hey party people.

this is nathan, thought i’d catch you up on the recent goings on in the band named after my family.
we’ve been in california recording our new album on and off (mostly on) for the past two months and all i have to say is i hope that you have seat belts securely fastened for the first time you listen to it. because if you don’t theres a good chance that you could get thrown from wherever you happen to be. its that rocking. its that shaking. its that moving.

out of the 16 songs that we’ve recorded, 16 of them have came out great. we’re currently recording pat’s vocals and his voice is a dripping honey comb of sweetness. seriously. i knew he had “chops” but this is out of control! he sounds great. so thats what pat’s up to. here’s a run down of the rest of the band:

MIKE: mastered the online game “magic pen” by having visions in his sleep on how to beat really hard levels. has also seen several movie stars including that one guy from the 1st season of lost who gets blown up from the TNT outside of the boat “the black rock” in the season finale.

BEN: has read 3 books from the wheel of time series, utilized the video chat components on his computer and has consumed atleast 10 pounds of orange chicken since the beginning of may.

and me? i’ve grown a great big bushy beard and have become addicted to jambaa juice (original size coldbuster, no sherbet, sub bananas, green caffeine boost - try it sometime its amazing.)

so that’s whats going on with us. we miss all of you and can’t wait to get some shows lined up to rock your face into the next town over. the album’s taking shape and it’s living up to our grueling and outrageous expectations that we have set in place for ourselves with the hopes of giving all of you music to live and love to for the next couple years of your lives.

talk to you soon and forgive all of my run-on sentences.
