Hello from Colorado

Monday, September 28th, 2009

hello from colorado. us in the meese army have been home for a couple of weeks now- moving into new apartments, watching “its always sunny in philadelphia”, and spending time in our lovely state as the leaves start to change and it gets colder outside. we’ve got lots of suprises coming up for this Ludo / New Heathers tour that we start on oct 16 in philly. stoked. also, our halloween show in denver is going to be off the chains. we’re having our good friend (and monolith founder) DJ HOT TO DEATH spinning on the 1’s and 2’s and our good buddies from a few miles up I-25- The Northern Way, playing at the show with us, along with the new heathers and ha ha tonka. wow. i would get tix immediately, but i think i’ll get in for free cuz i’m in one of the bands. but as far as you’re concerned, you know, if you live in denver, get some tix. its at the gothic. hokay, we’ve got rehearsal here in about an hour, gotta go. see you this fall and talk to you soon.

The American Road

When a band gets big enough, and sells enough records, they eventually get to travel in a big tour bus and sometimes even airplanes. There is undoubtedly some great perks to this type of travel. But my band isn’t quite there yet…we travel the country in a 1997 Ford E-350 Club Wagon. The great part about traveling in a van is that you really get to experience the road: you can’t really drive overnight, because you don’t have a professional driver who sleeps all day to tackle those overnighters.

We’ve been gone for a few weeks…and already I’ve seen snowcapped mountains and experienced 115 degree weather in Phoenix. I’ve seen the Pacific, I’ve seen the Mojave, I’ve seen the Rocky Mountains, and last night we stopped for gas in a tiny Utah town and the cashier was from Texas and she knew George Strait. And that’s just west of the Mississippi River. In the next few weeks, I’ll see the Smoky Mountains, the Atlantic Ocean, and several cities I’ve never been to before. If I ever try to complain about the drudgery of sitting in a van every day, remind me I have the coolest job ever. I love America.

Meese + Stephenie Meyer = bffz

Hi guys, Nathan here. Now for something that you probably didn’t know about Ben and me. We’re into Twilight. Like IN TO it. It started when we were visiting our record label almost a year ago and they had a bunch of copies of the book laying around and I needed something to read on the airplane on the way back to Denver. Anyways – it was one of those obsessed-at-first-page type scenarios where I didn’t put the book down for two days and two nights until it was completely absorbed by my eyes and my brain. If you’d of told me earlier in my life that I’d be reading vampire love story saga I’d call you crazy, but sometimes life throws you curveballs…

So I finished ‘Eclipse’ (the third book) about a week ago before a show with Copeland in Cali. I bought ‘Breaking Dawn’ (the last one) at the airport in San Francisco before I flew home to Denver to play a show. Yadda yadda we’re playing our first show with The Fray in Phoenix two nights ago and I had been reading the in the dressing room and got to page 120 or something like that when all of a sudden some says in passing really nonchalant “Yeah, the Twilight author, Stephenie Meyer is gonna be here tonight”. Then I had this split second indecision of “Should I try to play it cool and act like I meet super famous genius writers all the time? OR should I flip out and tell her what a big fan I am and get my picture taken with her?”. I think it’s pretty obvious which one I picked. Stephenie was AWESOME. We got to hang out and chatted for a while! If it wasn’t for the fact that we had to go on stage to play, I probably would’ve tried to talk to her all night.

Nathan and Stephenie

Nice to meet Stephenie.
